BANGALORE: Pioneer Corps Training Centre scored a 3-0 win over Madras Engineering Group in the Deccan Herald State Super Division league hockey tournament at the KSHA stadium here on Friday. Sairam Singh (13th), Francis Beg (18th) and S. Mundu (58th) scored for the winner. In the third match played under floodlights, Namdhari beat Karnataka State Police 5-3. At one stage the Namdhari XI had a 5-1 lead but KSP fought back to reduce the margin. Gurcharan Singh scored a treble for Namdhari in the 12th, 28th and 48th minutes, while Karamjeet had a brace (8th and 44th). KSP played better in the second half with Laxman Rao scoring in the 37th. KSP made a late flurry as Rakesh Yadav (56th) and Devendra (59th) scored but Namdhari had the match under control. Earlier in the second match, Indian Oil Corporation Limited was held to a 4-4 draw by the plucky Army Service Corps. ASC led 2-1 at the half time with Harpreet Singh (20th off a penalty corner) and Abhinav Ganapathy (26th) scoring after Bikramjeet Singh had scored the first goal for IOCL in the 11th minute. Two minutes after the break ASC's Abhinav Ganapathy scored off a penalty stroke awarded by umpire Hardeep Singh. But Bikramjeet Singh scored again (39th) and Inderjeet Singh levelled the scores in the 43rd minute. AK Majhi put ASC ahead again in the 46th but Inderjeet Singh slotted home the equaliser in the 68th minute.
