MUMBAI: Photographers from the Kashmir Valley made their presence felt in the city on Friday at the Mumbai Press Photo Contest 2005. Started in 2003, the contest went national this year. However, the jury decided against giving any photograph the coveted Press Photo of the Year 2005 award. There were 2,700 entries from 125 photojournalists. There were six categories: Spot News, General News, Daily Life, People In The News, Sports and Arts and Entertainment. Pankaj Nangia from India Today, New Delhi; Sherwin Crasto from Fotocorp/DNA, Mumbai; Neeraj Priyadarshi from The Indian Express, Mumbai; Ashish Raje from Mid-Day, Mumbai and Neeraj Priyadarshi won the first prizes (Rs. 25,000) in the abovementioned sections. Altaf Qadri of EPA, based at Srinagar, won four awards.
