RANCHI: St. Xavier's College, the most reputed educational institution of Jharkhand, turned into a battlefield for more than an hour on Friday. According to eyewitnesses, a group from other colleges entered the campus with the intention of disrupting the ongoing university examination for final year B.Com. The outsiders went on the rampage, claiming that the question papers were `not proper.' They attacked some students in the reading room.

Hostelers at the college clashed with the protesters. In the pitched battle, two students sustained major injuries and were rushed to the RIMS hospital. Father Afren Ba, a priest who tried to intervene, was attacked and suffered a deep cut in his neck.

The condition of the injured students was said to be critical.
