Dog attacks man, owner booked for second time

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 13. The owner of a mattresses manufacturing company was booked for the second time when his dog allegedly mauled a passer-by on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills on Saturday.

A lorry driver, M. Daniel, 38, was crossing the road near the Home Minister's residence at MLA Colony around 6.45 p.m. when the dog belonging to Ravindra Sharma chased Daniel and bit him.

A bleeding Daniel was rescued by passers-by. The Banjara Hills booked a case under Section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) of IPC against the animal's owner following a complaint from the driver.

Incidentally, this was the second time that Mr. Sharma was booked in the last five months. He was arrested and released on bail when his dog allegedly bit a pedestrian, Koti Reddy, on October 5.

"We had earlier warned Mr. Sharma. But, it seems he didn't take serious note of the matter," the Banjara Hills SI, B. Sudarshan Reddy said. Stating that it was a licensed dog, the SI said he would write to the municipal authorities to cancel the license.
