Weather

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky. Hot day conditions likely to continue in some parts. Maximum temperature would be around 36 degree Celsius.

Waltair, the maximum temperature was 30.3 degree Celsius and the minimum was 23.1 degree Celsius respectively on Sunday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 73 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 35.6 degree Celsius and 22.8 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 56 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.0 degree Celsius and 22.4 degree Celsius respectively at Dolphin's Nose. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent.

Power shutdown

Parts of the city will go without power owing to maintenance work on the electrical feeders on Monday.

Sanjivayya Colony, Santoshnagar, Santinagar, Lakshminaryanapuram, Kasturinagar, Madhusudhannagar, Durgakailasanagar, Simhagiri Colony, Tatichetlapalem, Venkateswara Colony and New Colony under Golden Jubilee Hospital sub-station will go without power from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for inspecting polls and lines.

Gopalapatnam mainroad, Simhadringar, Kothapalem and Yellapuvanipalem under 11 kv Gopalapatnam feeder will have no power from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for taking up maintenance work.

Quiz contest

Over 1,100 children from 40 schools participated in Masterminds, a quiz programme organised by Sahi, an organisation promoting activities for students.

The following were the winners in the seniors category: Ashwin Subhash (St.Aloysius School); S. Sriharsha (Cipra NRI) and V.S. Mehar Kumar (St. Aloysius); and B. Navya (S.S.V.P. English Medium School), G. Apoorva (Zinc Smelter English Medium School), Rajat Surana (M.V.P. Pubic School) and Gopikrishna Varma (Elegant English Medium School), among juniors.

VUDA caution

The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has cautioned members of the public not to purchase plots from two unauthorised lay-outs at Jaggarajupeta and Aganampudi in Gajuwaka mandal.

According to a VUDA release, the lay-outs are in Survey no.27 of Jaggarajupeta, measuring four acres, developed by E. Ramana and Survey no.176 of Aganampudi, five acres, developed by C.V. Nageswara Sastry.
