SIVAKASI, FEB. 28. Rajapalayam City Volleyball Club beat 11th Battalion Police team 20-25, 25-11, 25-17 in the final of the Virudhunagar district volleyball tournament conducted by the YMCA at Satchiapuram, near here, on Sunday. Rajapalayam Club bagged a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 while the 11th Battalion team got Rs. 1,500. In the third place play-off, Mamsapuram City Volleyball Club beat Dynamic Volleyball Club, Vilampatti 25-18, 25-20.
Quarterfinals: Rajapalayam City VC bt Friends VC, Chitharajapuram 25-11, 25-22; 11th BN Police team bt AVMM Nadar HSS, Vilampatti 25-8, 25-6; Mamsapuram City VC bt SHNVHSS, Sivakasi 25-20, 25-22; Dynamic VC bt GS Hindu HSS, Srivilliputtur 26-24, 25-20.
