`Relief yet to reach tsunami-hit Dalits'
By Our Staff Reporter
TUTICORIN,
FEB. 6.
Thanks to negligence by the district administration, relief is yet to reach hundreds of tsunami-affected Dalit families along the Tuticorin coast whose livelihood is dependent on sale of processed shells, said Henri Tiphagne, convener, Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation Co-ordination (TRRC), Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
Speaking to mediapersons here yesterday, he said the State Government should take efforts to put in place a fool-proof grievance redress mechanism to understand problems faced by tsunami-hit families and take measures to rehabilitate them as quickly as possible.
He criticised the Government for its lackadaisical attitude in providing relief and demanded transparency in the utilisation of the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
