HYDERABAD, JAN. 5. Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu entered the semifinals of the Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 cricket tournament by taking the vital first innings lead in their quarterfinal matches here on Wednesday. Hyderabad, which declared its innings at 520 for nine declared, bowled out Gujarat for 241. Medium-pacer Alfred Absolom (four for 55) and P.S.S. Bharath Kumar (three for 19) struck at regular intervals to put the home team in driver's seat. In its second innings, Hyderabad scored 139 for two with A.T. Rayudu remaining unbeaten on 46. In another match, Yo Mahesh (101 not out, 11x4, 3x6) helped Tamil Nadu post 456 against Railways' 190 to grab the vital first innings lead. In the second essay, Railways finished at 102 for two on the final day.
Railways 190 & 102 for two (Rakesh Mishra 56 not out) drew with Tamil Nadu 456 (Shijit Chandran 120, Jonathan Moses 48, Yo Mahesh 101 not out).
