Ensure quality of repair works
Due to the poor quality of work, many drains, culverts and footpaths collapse within a year of construction. It is a waste of taxpayers' money to take up such inferior quality works repeatedly. Also, there is no one to supervise these works. The corporation should make sure that the quality of such works is maintained. J.F. D'Souza, Mangalore.
Infrastructure in rural areas
Roads are an important component of measuring development along with infrastructure, electricity and education. There is no power in these areas for more than 12 hours a day. Education is neglected and even Kannada-medium schools are not aided by the Government. If Karnataka wants to ensure development of the rural areas, the Government must improve the infrastructure in these border areas. S.S. Nadaf, Belgaum.
