Tehelka cover seeks police protection

AHMEDABAD, DEC. 23. The Nationalist Congress Party member of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Nissar Hussein Sayed, alleged to be the Tehelka cover in the Zahira Sheikh bribing case, has sought police protection.

Mr. Sayed, popularly known as Nisar Bapu, has requested the Police Commissioner, Sudhir Sinha, for protection, perceiving threat to his life from the Srivastava brothers.

His colleague in the Municipal Corporation, Chandrakant Srivastava, the cousin of the BJP member of the Gujarat Assembly, Madhu Srivastava — who is alleged to had bribed Zahira Sheikh to turn hostile in the Best Bakery case — has reportedly admitted to have called up Mr. Nisar Bapu twice yesterday but denied having issued him any threat.
