Centre of Competency for VLSI engineering

HYDERABAD: Sun Microsystems, Cadence and Veda IIT have joined hands to set up `Centre of Competency (CoC)' for very large scale integration (VLSI) engineering.

The joint initiative is to build the CoC for research and development in VLSI engineering, design automation and embedded system engineering. Gautam Desai, representing Sun Mirco said at a joint press conference here on Thursday that the CoC was a premier programme offered by it in partnership to further R&D and human resource skills. Himanshu Singh, Executive Director, (India and SAARC), Cadence Design Systems, said India could become the hub of semiconductor and product design. Dasaradha R. Gude, Chairman, Veda IIT, said they would be offering MS, diploma and specialised programmes.
