Letters to the Editor
Sir, The BJP president, L.K. Advani, has said that the party is the chosen instrument of the Divine to take the country out of its present problems ("Divinity has chosen BJP: Advani," Nov. 27). Those at the helm in theocracies continue their dictatorial rule on the plea that they are chosen by god. So, if a Hindu Rashtra is established, the right to rule will always be the BJP's. Never mind which party the people vote for.
N. Kunju,
Sir, Mr. Advani's statement is similar to that of Church Minister Hanns Kerrl of Nazi Germany: "God's decision has been made. The responsibility for the whole German people has been placed upon the Fuehrer who knows how to bear it."
Ch. Venkateswara Rao,
