Schools win prizes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 6. The St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Vettucaud has bagged the trophy in the 14th A.B. Netto Memorial Inter-Coastal School Quiz competition organised by the local unit of the of the All India Catholic University Federation. The St. Antony's Higher Secondary School, Valiathura, bagged the second prize.

Painting contest

The painting competition, being organised by the ISRO centre of VSSC, LPSC and IISU, for students from LKG to Std X in connection with the World Space Week celebrations 2004, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the YMCA Hall here on October 9. Initiation

The `Vidyarambhom' under the aegis of the Thunchan Smaraka Samithi, Airanimuttom, will be held on October 23. Special counters for registration have been opened on the samithi premises. Further details can be had on telephone numbers 3097364, 2457312 and 2457473.

Institute

Madhuvanam Sathya Sai Trust will start a computer institute to impart free computer education to rural women in Vilappil panchayat. The institute is being set up under the Sathya Sai Grama Kalyan Yojana project, a release from the trust has said.

`Service week'

The `service week' being observed at the SMV Government Higher Secondary School in the city will conclude on October 8. A competition in manual work was organised on Wednesday to make the campus litter-free, according to a release from the school.
