KOVALAM, SEPT. 27 . The General Manager of the Le Meredien Kovalam Hotels, P. J. Mammen, today said that the manner in which the local administration had acted would deter future NRI investments in the State as well as drastically affect the impending tourist season. Speaking to mediapersons before the Government took over the Halcyon Castle and 28 other buildings on 4.13 hectares of land today, Mr. Mammen said the Government had served the notice to Mfar Hotels to vacate the Halcyon Castle on September 25 evening. "We were given no time for discussion or legal recourse," he added. The quarters for staff and families, staff dining areas and kitchen facilities, services such as water and electricity and sewerage plants, stores and purchasing equipment, accounts and all administrative offices function in the area to be taken over by the Government, he said. Mr. Mammen said it was "very sad the way things are being done" and pointed out that the castle is occupied by tourists from the United Kingdom. .
