Soren appears before Giridih court

GIRIDIH (JHARKHAND), SEPT. 9. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief, Shibu Soren, who was released from judicial custody last night, today appeared before a Giridih court in connection with the 1974 Pirtand murder case.

The First Additional and Sessions Judge, Manoranjam Kavi, set October 8 as the next date for the appearance of the former Union Coal Minister, allegedly involved in a murder case at Pirtand in Giridih district.

On Wednesday, the Jamtara Jail Superintendent, A.K. Sinha, had sent a fax message to the Giridih Superintendent of Police stating that Mr. Soren could not appear before the court there following medical advice. — PTI
