Katiyar arrested
GORAKHPUR,
SEPT. 9.
The former chief of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Vinay Katiyar, was arrested here today while protesting against being stopped from going to a trouble-torn area of Kushinagar district.
Violence erupted at Padrauna in Kushinagar after the administration prevented a `Janmashtami Dol' to be taken out on Wednesday. Later, curfew was clamped in nine villages of the area and 200 people were arrested. Mr. Katiyar was stopped near the Kusmi jungles of Gorakhpur. In protest, the BJP leader, along with his supporters, sat on a dharna. The district administration arrested him and lodged him at a Forest Department guest house. About 25 party workers also courted arrest. UNI
