TTD clarification on offerings

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI. Sept. 9. The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) said today that only cash and other offerings dropped directly by pilgrims into the Tirumala temple hundi would reach its account. So also only the demand drafts and the money orders sent in the name of the Executive Officer, TTD. Offerings made otherwise would not.

The TTD's alert comes in the wake of reports of pilgrims making offerings in cash and kind to a private charitable trust which offers huge umbrellas to the Tirumala temple every year during the Brahmothsavam.

The umbrellas procession from Chennai to Tirupati is not related to the TTD in any manner, the TTD clarified.
