VIJAYAWADA, JULY 11. A six-year-old boy was accidentally drowned, while his mother rescued by locals at the Bandar Canal. According to the police, Nagalakshmi (29), wife of Chalapathi Rao, a constable with the Nalgonda police, had gone to the canal along with her youngest son, Pavan Kalyan, for washing clothes. Kalyan, who was playing in the water, got drowned. Nagalakshmi, who tried to save him, was herself on the verge of getting drowned, when some locals saved her. Both the mother and kid were shifted to the Government General Hospital, where Kalyan was declared dead.
