ALAPPUZHA, JULY 9. Boben Kunchacko, veteran cinema director, died at his residence here at 2-45 p.m. today. The 55-year-old director had been suffering from diabetes for a long time. Son of Kunchacko, a doyen of the Malayalam film industry and owner of Udaya Studio, Alappuzha, Boben Kunchacko had directed four Malayalam films Aazhi, Palat Kunhikkannan and Thiram Thedum Thira. He had also acted in a few films. His wife Molly and two daughters were present at the time of the death. His son Kunchacko Boben, cine actor, was at the site of the film `Junior Senior'. He stopped shooting and arrived here following the death of his father. Those who arrived to pay homage to the departed soul included the directors, Kamal, Fazil and Sibi Malayil, and the actors, Mukesh and Harishree Asokan. The burial will take place at the Mount Carmel Church at 4-30 p.m. tomorrow.
