Letters to the Editor
Sir, The argument that reservation in the private sector will lead to inefficiency is fallacious. Quality is not the exclusive property of the `forward' castes. The public sector is in bad shape not because of reservation. It is because of the Government's inability to extract work from all its employees, regardless of caste. There need be no such fear as regards the private sector. Private managements know how to make their employees work.
P.S. Prasanth,
Sir, The primary reason for introducing reservation was the uplift of the backward. But it has failed to serve the economically needy.
Sarathy Narasimhan,
Sir, Reservation in the private sector will create problems of implementation. It will increase the number of communities wanting to be classified as backward. More people will try to get bogus caste certificates.
S. Mukund,
Sir, The thinking behind reservation is fundamentally sound but its implementation is burdened with negatives.
Raghuram Ekambaram,
