Letters to the Editor
Sir, Though it appears as though the U.S. has handed over power to Iraq, it has retained a strong military presence to protect its interests. Americans, no doubt, will continue to rule the oil rich nation by proxy. The moment the interim administration incurs the displeasure of Washington, it will be replaced.
M.S. Venkateshwaran,
Sir, An independent Iraqi Government is the need of the hour and that can be a reality only when the U.S. troops pull out completely.
S. Murali,
Sir, The U.S. move is a face-saving gimmick to get out of the chaos resulting from its miscalculations.
George Olivera,
Sir, Why did the U.S. invade Iraq in the first place? There is no trace of the so-called weapons of mass destruction. Under the pretext of putting an end to the autocratic rule of Saddam Hussein, the U.S. imposed another kind of dictatorship.
Akella Srinivasa Rao,
