Solicitor General appointed

NEW DELHI, JUNE 19. The Advocate General of Maharashtra, Goolam E. Vahanvati, was appointed Solicitor General of India for a period of three years.

Mr. Vahanvati was appointed Advocate General of Maharashtra in December 1999. He represented the State in the public interest litigation petition filed in the fake stamp paper scam.
