INSAT picture at 11.30 hrs. Observations recorded at 8-30 a.m. on May 30
Rain likely in T.N. CHENNAI, MAY 30. Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Karnataka and southern parts of Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, at many places over Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and north interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in cms: Cannur 13, Erode 8, Madurai Airport and Kozhikode Airport 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Kumbakonam (Thanjavur dt.), Bhavani (Erode dt.), Dindigul and Kozhikode 6 each, Tiruchengode (Namakkal dt.) and Valparai 5 each, Namakkal, Coonoor, Harur and Barur (both Dharmapuri dt.), Agathi and Davangere 4 each, Salem, Tirupuvanam (Sivagangai dt.), Kudapura (Udupi dt.), Channapatna (Bangalore Rural dt.) and Arogyavaram 3 each, Tiruvarur, Hosur (Krishnagiri dt.), Krishnagiri, Tirumangalam (Madurai dt.), Kodaikanal, Denkanikottai (Dharmapuri dt.), CIAL Kochi, Shirali, Mangalore Airport, Belgaum Airport, Bangalore Airport, Bangalore, Mysore, Mandya and Ongole 2 each and Adiramapattinam, Attur (Salem dt.), Mettupalayam and Tiruppur (both Coimbatore dt.), Uthagamandalam, Karur, Paramathi, Thali (Krishnagiri dt.), Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt.), Melur (Madurai dt.), Sivagangai, Kodavasal (Tiruvarur dt.), Kottayam, Alapuzha, Amini Divi, Karwar, Honavar, Panambur, Bijapur, Ranebennur (Haveri dt.), Chitradurga, Bangarpet (Kolar dt.), Gannavaram and Repalle (Guntur dt.) 1 each. On Saturday, the maximum temperature rose markedly at a few places over north interior Karnataka, rose appreciably at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rayalaseema, rose at one or two places over rest Telangana, coastal Karnataka, rest Tamil Nadu, rest north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, fell appreciably at one or two places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, fell at one or two places over rest coastal Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed a little elsewhere over the region. They were markedly below normal at one or two places over Rayalaseema, appreciably below normal at a few places over north Tamil Nadu, at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, below normal at one or two places over rest north Tamil Nadu, south Tamil Nadu, rest coastal Andhra Pradesh, above normal at one or two places over rest south Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, Telangana, above normal at a few places over north interior Karnataka, at one or two places over rest coastal Karnataka generally normal over rest of the region. Adilabad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius in the region.
