MIDNAPORE (W.B.), MAY 23. Tension prevailed in Jhargram area of West Midnapore district a day after post-poll violence in which a panchayat official was burnt to death in retaliation for the killing of a local CPI (M) leader. The situation in the area was tense but under control, police sources said today, adding that two police pickets had been set up in the area and Rapid Action Force deployed after last night's incident.
