CUDDALORE, MAY 11. The final tally emerged today put the polling in Cuddalore parliamentary constituency at 62.96 per cent, Chidambaram parliamentary constituency - 64.5 per cent and the Mangalore Assembly - 67.7 per cent, according to Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Collector and Returning Officer. The Cuddalore constituency registered as high a polling percentage of 70.4 per cent in the Panruti Assembly segment, and as low as 58.17 per cent in the Rishivandiyam Assembly segment. The Chidambaram parliamentary constituency had netted the highest polling percentage of 67.7 in both Mangalore and Bhuvanagiri Assembly segments, and the lowest of 55 per cent in Kurinjipadi Assembly segment. It may be noted that since Mangalore voters also polled for both the Assembly by-election and the Lok Sabha seat, the percentage of polling (67.7) remains the same for both. The Assembly segment-wise polling in Cuddalore parliamentary constituency is as follows: Cuddalore (60.39 per cent), Nellikuppam (66.17 per cent), Panruti (70.4 per cent), Rishivandiyam (58.17 per cent), Sankarapuram (62.48 per cent) and Ulundurpet (60.18 per cent),

Kurinjipadi (55 per cent), Bhuvanagiri (67.7 per cent), Kattumannarkoil (67.1 per cent), Chidambaram (64.31 per cent), Vridhachalam (65 per cent), Mangalore (67.7 per cent) According to the Collector, the votes for the Cuddalore constituency would be counted at Periyar Government Arts College in Cuddalore, and for the Chidambaram constituency and the Mangalore Assembly at Devi Karumariamman Government Arts College, C.Mutlur. The armed security personnel were guarding the counting centres round-the-clock, he said.
62.8 per cent in Tindivanam constituency
The Tindivanam parliamentary constituency registered a polling percentage of 62.8, with 7,27,774 voters out of the total number of 11,57,638 voted yesterday. Of the six Assembly segments that constitute the parliamentary seat, Kandamangalam (SC) registered the highest voter turnout of 66.6 per cent , followed by Thirunavalur - 66 per cent, Tindivanam - 65.1 per cent, Vanur (SC) - 62.5 per cent, Villupuram - 60.2 per cent, and Mugaiyur - 58 per cent. The Assembly segment-wise split up is given below: Tindivanam (65.1 per cent), Vanur - SC (62.5 per cent), Kandamangalam - SC (66.6 per cent), Villupuram (60.2 per cent), Mugaiyur (58 per cent), and Thirunavalur (66 per cent). The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from 1,152 polling stations had been collected and deposited at two counting centres Arignar Anna Governmnt Arts College and Sri Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School at Villupuram.
