`KCR is diluting Telangana cause'

By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR, MAY 8. The Telangana Rashtra Sadhana Front (TRSF) convenor, K. Mruthyunjayam, has launched a scathing attack on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for `diluting' the cause of statehood for Telangana with his moves to join the Government to secure a Cabinet berth.

Addressing a meeting organised by the TRSF on Saturday, Mr. Mruthyunjayam said, "People of Telangana want separate State, not positions of power for their representatives.''

Alleging that TRS president was not sincere about Telangana, he said the Congress had sprung a nasty surprise on Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao by announcing that they were only committed for second States Reorganisation Committee on Telangana.

He said the special package announced by the Congress during the election alliance with the TRS was limited to seat sharing, ministerial berths and corporation chairman posts and the second SRC. Ridiculing the TRS president's claim that separate Telangana would become a reality in six months, he asked the TRS chief to grill the Congress about the formation of Telangana.

Mr. Mruthyunjayam, who was expelled from TRS during the elections for contesting as rebel candidate from the Karimnagar Assembly constituency, formed the TRSF along with the Telangana Janata Party and the Telangana Communist party. He clarified that they had formed the front only to ensure that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao proceeded on the right path for the formation of Telangana.

Charging that the TRS president had expelled all senior leaders of the party by abolishing the party executive, presidium and other bodies in order to give ticket to other leaders, he flayed Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao's plan to organise a camp in a hotel in Hyderabad with TRS legislators after the counting of votes. He alleged that the TRS president was planning to organise the camp as he was not sure about the loyalty of his own party leaders.

He flayed Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao for not talking about the implementation of the first SRC recommendations on Telangana. He asked Mr. Rao to remain silent till separate Telangana was formed and appoint a Dalit as Chief Minister.

He said they would launch a campaign against Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao if he betrayed the Telangana movement with audio and video clippings in entire region and teach a fitting lesson. People of the region would decide whether to recognise Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao or to punish him after the election results and his ploys, he added.

The Telangana Rasthra Party president and co-convenor of the TRSF, G. Innaiah, said that they would not allow "another betrayal'' of the Telangana movement.

The Telangana Janata Party president, Muralidhar Deshpande, the Telangana Communist Party president, S. Venkat Swamy, and others were present.
