NDA Govt. more representative in character: Advani

BHUBANESWAR, APRIL 14. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, said today that the Vajpayee-led NDA Government was more representative in character and equipped to solve the country's various problems besides ushering in development and maintaining communal amity.

Mr. Advani, who arrived here on his "Bharat Uday Yatra", said: "The NDA represented India geographically and socially which helped it to solve various problems, usher in development and maintain amity," he told the gathering.

Despite running the Government well, both the Vajpayee Government and the BJD-BJP Government in Orissa led by Naveen Patnaik had taken a bold decision to seek a fresh mandate ahead of their scheduled term. "I thank Naveen Patnaik for holding simultaneous Assembly poll in the State," he said.

On the BJP's "feel good" slogan, Mr. Advani said a new hope and confidence had emerged. Earlier, addressing a meeting in Cuttack, he said that the ensuing poll could not be equated with any other election as the people were aware of the development India had witnessed during the rule of the Vajpayee Government. "The political perception of the people has changed and development has emerged as a major issue."
