THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 5. Justice N. K. Sodhi was sworn in the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court here today. Justice Sodhi, who had been serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court since January 21 following the retirement of the then Chief Justice, J. L. Gupta, was administered the oath of office by the Governor, T. N. Chaturvedi, at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan here this evening. The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, the Ministers, K. Sankaranarayanan, K. M. Mani, Kadavoor Sivadasan and G. Karthikeyan, the Speaker, Vakkom Purushothaman, the Deputy Speaker, N. Sundaran Nadar, the Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, judges of the Kerala High Court, the Advocate General, Ratna Singh, the Director General of Police, P. K. Hormis Tharakan, the Kerala State Women's Commission chairperson, M. Kamalam, among others, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Mayor not invited
The Thiruvananthapuram Mayor, J. Chandra, has complained that she was not invited to the swearing-in ceremony. She told The Hindu after the swearing-in ceremony that the State administration had committed a clear breach of precedent by not inviting her to the function.
