THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 5. The RSP State committee has taken serious exception to the remarks made by leaders of the CPI(M) and CPI about the position taken by the party on the Muslim League nominee, P. V. Abdul Wahab's candidature in the Rajya Sabha election. The committee, which discussed the issue at length at its meeting here today, was of the view that the party leadership should have disclosed what had actually transpired at the LDF State committee meeting here the other day. Briefing reporters after the LDF panel meeting, the Front convener, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, had told reporters that it had been made clear to the RSP State secretary, T. J. Chandrachoodan, the impracticability of his proposal that the LDF should field a second candidate. According to RSP sources, Prof. Chandrachoodan told the committee that nothing of the kind had happened at the meeting. All that had been generally resolved was that there should not be any further public discussion on the subject in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The RSP secretary said he had observed silence on the subject when reporters sought his reaction to the Front convener's statement only because of this understanding in the LDF State committee. However, leaders of certain other Front constituents not only divulged what transpired at the meeting, but also sought to belittle the RSP position, he explained.
