Flush-out operations of militants stepped up in Hazaribagh

HAZARIBAGH, MARCH 31. Authorities stepped up flush-out operations of militants in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency today for conducting the Lok Sabha elections in a peaceful manner.

During the past few days, five militants have surrendered to the authorities and another six arrested in the constituency.

A total of 10 companies of the Central forces would be deployed apart from the police to maintain law and order.

According to the district election office, the constituency would have a total of 1,186 booths. Of them 281 booths were identified as ``sensitive'' and 278 as ``hyper-sensitive."

The External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, is contesting the elections from the constituency for the third time in a row.

The polling would be held on April 20 with five other constituencies in the first phase of polling. — UNI
