Students appear for fake `CAT-2004' exam

NEW DELHI, MARCH 14. The Delhi police today unearthed a gang that was holding fake `CAT-2004' exams, befooling over a thousand students in the city.

A Mumbai-based institute, Education Career Launcher, conducted the tests, claiming that successful candidates would be admitted to MBBS, BDS, B.E., B.Arch, MBA and MCA courses in colleges all over the country, police said.

Police conducted a raid at an examination centre in Paharganj area and stopped the exam in the two remaining centres following a complaint from a student. They arrested one Vikrant Raghuvanshi, who was overseeing the exams.

The complainant, who was taking the exam for admission to MBBS at a centre in Paharganj area, was given a mathematics paper. When he pointed it out to the invigilator, he was told it was part of the exam. This made him suspicious. He complained to his parents, who immediately informed police.

In all, there were 41 centres for the exams all over the country, police said adding that information was not available on the centres outside the city.
