POLLACHI, FEB. 28. Women voters will be outnumbering men in the Pollachi (Reserved) Lok Sabha constituency. As per the draft roll published by the administration, there are 10,38,780 eligible voters of which women would be 5,28,039 while men would be 5,10,741. Proving the characteristics of a rural constituency profile, women voters are as usual more than men, election officials pointed out. The constituency comprises Kinathukkadavu, Pongalur, Pollachi, Udumalpet, Dharapuram and Valparai assembly segments. The Valparai constituency in the hills would be the smallest segment while the neighbouring Udumalpet segment is the biggest. The Dharapuram assembly segment coming under the Pollachi Reserve Lok Sabha seat falls under the Erode Revenue district. During the recent revision of electoral rolls, the constituency witnessed a net addition of 8,092 voters. The deletion from the list was also substantial and the figures assembly segmentwise are as follows; Kinathakkadavu 3,297, Pollachi 7,539, Valparai 1,620, Udumalpet 2,332, Dharapuram 2,892 and Pongalur 4,111. As far as net additions go, Pongalur had the lowest of 51 voters while Udumalpet the highest of 3,553 voters. Pollachi had 1,848 new voters, Kinathukkadavu 868 new voters, Valparai 789 and Dharapuram 983 new voters. As per the draft roll, the electorate population was as follows: Kinathakkadavu has 1,59,173 voters (78,332 male and 80,841 female) exercising their franchise in 151 polling stations, while 1,96,037 voters of Pollachi (96,375 male and 99,662 female) would be exercising their franchise in 181 polling stations, 1,31,265 voters of Valparai (64,060 male and 67,205 female) would cast their votes in the 121 polling stations, 2,06,699 voters of Udumalpet (1,02,027 male and 1,04,672 female) would cast their votes in 180 polling stations, the Dharapuram assembly segment in Erode district has 1,84,292 voters (90,134 male and 94,158 female) to poll their votes in 168 polling stations, the Pongalur assembly segment would have 1,61,314 voters (79,813 male and 81,501 female) casting their votes in 144 polling stations.
