MELKOTE, MANDYA DISTRICT), JAN. 10. The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, and Science and Technology, Murli Manohar Joshi, today called for digitalising information on Ayurveda and Indian food science and providing it to the rest of the world. Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Sanskrit Research Academy here, he said the academy had initiated research into Indian food habits, and the findings would be scientifically validated by the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore. A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed by the academy and the CFTRI today. Prof. Joshi lauded the academy for its research programmes and stressed the need to preserve India's tradition and culture. The academy submitted a memorandum to the Minister seeking deemed university status for itself. The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, was present.
