By Our Staff Correspondent

MYSORE JAN. 10.JAN. 10.JAN. In the light of the depleting water levels in the Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir and the need to conserve water for drinking, the Mysore Agenda Task Force (MATF) has urged the authorities concerned to plug leakage. The demand comes following the meeting of the water management committee that has been formed under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the supply of water to Mysore. The convener of the water supply and sanitary working group of the task force, M. Lakshmana, said the leaks between Balmuri and Belogola were causing a water loss of around 40 per cent. The group suggested the Mysore City Corporation to repair the gates at Balmuri, Virija Canal, Chikkadevaraya Canal, Devaraya Canal, and Sethikatte Barrage immediately to prevent the leakage of water between the two points. The suggestion, the MATF said, had been given as water had to be used judiciously till the end of May. Maintenance of the gates was the responsibility of the Irrigation Department.
