Letters to the Editor
Sir, Many Biharis have been killed in the recent incidents of violence in Assam and several more have been forced to return to their home State. The nation's unity is in jeopardy. All conscious citizens must promote the cause of unity in this hour of distress.
P. Venkatesh,
Sir, The violence in Assam branding "Indians" as "outsiders" is not an overnight occurrence. The same is true in Maharashtra. The unrest is due to cheap political ambitions. Our so-called leaders fail to tell the people that we are all Indians first.
N. Venkatesan,
Sir, As Indian citizens if we do not have the "freedom of public employment" and cannot "move freely throughout India", where do we go?
Sanghamitra Choudhury,
Sir, Regional and ethnic chauvinism has spread its tentacles in the northeast. It is reminiscent of `the sons of the soil theory' that is detrimental to the national interest.
S.M. Basha,
