Kalam to dedicate Rajiv memorial

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI OCT. 2. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, will dedicate the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial to the nation at a ceremony in Sriperumbudur on October 10.

The Congress spokesperson, Abhishek Singhvi, said here today that the centrepiece of the memorial, situated in a tranquil landscape, was a circular stone platform with a portrait of Rajiv Gandhi in inlaid stone, marking the spot where he fell to a terrorist bomb on May 21, 1991.

The platform is surrounded by an elliptical circle of seven sculpted granite columns, each symbolising an ideal that Rajiv stood for and epitomised — dharma, satya, nyaya, vigyan, tyaga, shanti, samriddhi.
