Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the news item, "HC scraps eyewash of bus burning trial" ( Sept. 20 ). The Madras High Court has strongly criticised the prosecuting authorities for conducting the trial in a slipshod manner in the Dharmapuri bus burning case. Less than a week after the February 2, 2000 incident in which three students of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University were killed, a survivor narrated the irresponsible manner in which the police had behaved on the spot. Later a propaganda war that ensued over the incident between two TV channels ensured that the victims were not treated with decency even in death.
