Sir, Safia Sircar's "A lost innocence" ( Aug. 24 ) is revealing. It is a sad commentary on our ethos that certain elite groups resorted to peremptory categorisation of some castes into flesh trade; village elders added a few more to the list with the connivance of the elite group of the time. Evidently, many of the so-called caste-based sex workers have come out of the quagmire. But it is sad that Andhra Pradesh tops in the trafficking of women.
