Bihar sends back Giriraj Kishore also

By Our Staff Correspondent

PATNA Aug. 16. The Bihar Government sent back today yet another senior VHP leader, Acharya Giriraj Kishore, not allowing him to leave the Jaya Prakash Narain International Airport on arrival here.

On Friday, the VHP general secretary, Praveen Togadia, was prevented from entering the city. In a similar manner, Giriraj Kishore, who was scheduled to address VHP State workers in Muzaffarpur, was told that his programme had been banned and that he was not permitted to leave even the airport as it was feared that it could lead to breach of peace.

While Giriraj Kishore arrived by an Indian Airlines flight, the officials booked his return flight to Delhi by Sahara Airlines. The airport was cordoned off and only passengers were allowed inside.

The State VHP unit has given a call for a Bihar bandh on August 19 to protest against the alleged "anti-democratic functioning" of the State Government.

The organisation's State vice-president, Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal, accused the Government of "infringing on Constitutional rights" of the citizens by its actions.

The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, who was in Darbhanga a couple of hours later, was silent on the issue at his public meeting.
