While three of the deceased were casual labourers who were fast asleep on the pavement, two others, including a six-year-old boy, K. Nagaraju, were travelling on top of the lorry, the police said. The lorry laden with iron load, was proceeding from Visakhapatnam to Khammam when the driver lost control and hit a stationary cycle rickshaw parked on the pavement and later rammed into an adjacent mini-lorry before overturning. Two casual labourers K. Nagaiah (37) and M. Adaiah (48) who were sleeping on the cycle rickshaw, and A. Kasim Pera, also a casual labourer, who was sleeping in the mini-lorry, were crushed to death on the spot. All the three are residents of Ranigari Thota.
