'Advani has exceeded brief'

NEW DELHI JULY 4. For the second successive day, the Congress took the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, L.K. Advani, to task for his remarks against the Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh."The Home Minister has exceeded his brief," said Ambika Soni, AICC general secretary. Her colleague and party spokesperson, S. Jaipal Reddy, charged Mr. Advani with trying to influence the probe. "Mr. Advani's comments are intended to influence the probe," said Mr. Reddy. The Congress also took up cudgels on behalf of Capt. Singh and defended the ongoing probe against Mr. Badal.Mr. Reddy said that the raids were conducted after a through probe and after collecting concrete evidence.
