Naidu to name party executive members

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD June 24. The TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, will name members to his party's new State Executive Committee on Wednesday.

Mr. Naidu was closeted with his senior party colleagues for nearly five hours today to finalise the names of the office-bearers and executive members before the two-day meeting of the TDP's extended executive on June 26 and 27. Keeping in view that 2004 is an election year, the TDP chief is likely to appoint senior partymen as in-charges for 20 Assembly constituencies each.

TDP sources said Mr. Naidu was unlikely to burden Lok Sabha members with too many organisational responsibilities as speculation is rife that Parliament elections may be advanced. However, Rajya Sabha members would be entrusted with several duties.

Asked by presspersons to comment on his reported observation at Monday's Cabinet meeting about the likelihood of early Lok Sabha polls, Mr. Naidu said he had no definite indications to that effect. He had merely advised Ministers to remain alert by interacting with people and fulfilling their needs.
