Following the let-up in the monsoon, people living in areas such as Bhagamandala, Karadigodu, and Balamuri heaved a sigh of relief as the threat of floods receded. Bhagamandala received 103.6 mm. rainfall in the past 24 hours while Talacauvery recorded 120 mm. Madikeri taluk received 65.4 mm. rainfall, taking the tally in the current year to 565.1 mm., which is much lower than the 996.7 mm. rainfall recorded during the same period last year. Virajpet taluk received 29.6 mm. rainfall in the past 24 hours, Somwarpet taluk 27.2 mm., Napoklu town 45 mm., Sunticoppa 37 mm., and Srimangala and Kushalnagar 27 mm. each. With the inflow into the Harangi Reservoir increasing to 2,546 cusecs today, the water-level stood at 2,807.75 ft. as against the full level of 2,859 ft. During the corresponding period last year, the water-level stood at 2,799.2 ft.
