Vinod Khanna to attend WEF meet

NEW DELHI JUNE 19. The Minister of State for External Affairs, Vinod Khanna, will lead a delegation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) extraordinary meeting in Amman, Jordan, from June 21 to 23. R.M. Abhyankar, Secretary (ANA), Ministry of External Affairs, will also be part of the delegation.

The Confederation of Indian Industry will also have a delegation in Jordan. Ajit Gulabchand, chairman and managing director, Hindustan Construction Company limited, will lead the CII team comprising Prakash Shah, adviser to the chairman, Dodsal Group, H. Mejie, chairman, PCP International, Srikant Jain, adviser, PCP International, M. Poongavanan, general manager, Bharat EarthMovers Limited, Mirai Chatterjee, coordinator, Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA) and Ratika Jain, Regional Director, CII northern region.

By hosting a full-scale ``Extraordinary Annual Meeting, the WEF is hoping to bring the `Spirit of Davos'' to West Asia during a period of global tension.

The meeting is expected to focus on the current situation in West Asia and replace the current period of conflict with the spirit of cooperation through a vital exchange of views among academia and business, religious, social and political leaders.

Mr. Vinod Khanna will speak on the prospects of global trade along with Grant Aldonas, U.S. Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Trade.
