BJP alleges disruption of meetings by Cong. men

By Our Special Correspondent

JAIPUR MAY 17. The Rajasthan BJP today released a list of about a dozen persons whom it charged with creating trouble in various meetings of the party president, Vasundhara Raje Scindia, to prove its allegation of involvement of Congressmen. However, the party did not file any FIR against them on the plea that the leaders were busy with the ongoing ``Parivartan Yatra''.

It was obvious that on the last day of the second phase of the Parivartan Yatra, which ended in Abu Road in Sirohi district, Ms. Scindia was harping on Congress involvement in the disruptions of her meetings in south-west Rajasthan's Pali, Rohat and Jalore areas during the past three days.

Addressing mediaperons at Sirohi Circuit House today, Ms. Scindia alleged that the listed individuals — Shishupal Singh, joint secretary of the Congress, Madan Singh Jagarwal (both from Rohat), Bhuvanesh Vyas, Mahavir Singh, Bhimsingh Rajpurohit, Mansingh Pal, Hanuman Singh (all from Pali) and Thakat Singh, Arun Singh, Bhanwar Singh and Jabbar Singh from Jalore — were the leaders who brought their followers to disturb the meetings.

Ms. Scindia alleged that these persons, all office-bearers of the Congress, were indulging in such activities at the behest of their party leadership. The local people who had come to attend the meetings in large numbers had driven them away every time, she pointed out. The ``Parivartan Yatra'' has been getting an overwhelming public support and this could have provoked the Congress to resort to such desperate action, she argued.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, on Friday had refuted the charge of both his personal involvement and that of Congressmen in the disturbances at the meetings of the BJP leader. Talking to mediapersons, he had said that this kind of personalised allegations were unbecoming of the tradition of politicians in Rajasthan. With this comment, Mr. Gehlot had hinted that Ms. Scindia was new to Rajasthan politics.
