The TRAI has already set certain quality of service norms and the latest customer perception audit would help it direct Internet service providers to improve the quality of service further in order to bring it closer to global norms. The regulator had earlier taken note of the decline in STD rates which would ease congestion during off-peak hours. It had asked fixed phone companies to prolong the off-peak hours for Internet and provide a longer pulse so that Internet users benefited from the lower usage of the network by STD users during off-peak hours. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has already announced a longer pulse for Internet usage during off-peak hours.
