At the State Department, the spokesman, Richard Boucher, was asked on Friday to comment on the violence in Kashmir and the kind of message the Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, would be taking with him when he travels to the subcontinent in the first week of May. "I don't have anything new at this moment on violence in Kashmir. Certainly we continue to be concerned about that situation and the Secretary spoke today with President Musharraf about it. He has been talking to the Pakistanis as well as keeping in touch with the Indian Government," he said.
