The baby, which was found in the cradle at around 10 p.m. on Friday, was taken to the adoption centre by the balasevikas of the centre. The baby, weighing about 2.5 kg, is said to be healthy and has been named `Ashish' by the employees of the centre. With this, the number of children abandoned in the Amma electronic cradle since its installation in November has gone up to eight. Five male and three female babies were abandoned in the cradle.
