Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
P. Ganesan, secretary, said here today that a meeting of the committee held under the chairmanship of the honorary president, K. Ambalavanan, condemned the assault on a part-time employee, Arumugham, in a hospital. The meeting, through a resolution, called upon the police to take action against the culprits, who caused bleeding injuries to the employee. The committee wanted implementation of the revised pay structure to benefit the employees in the kitchen wing in the hospital, nursing orderlies and ward attenders. All vacant posts should be filled. Jobs on compassionate grounds should be provided to the next of kin of the workers who died in harness. There should be posting of staff in keeping with the rise in patient strength and the Central scheme of assured career progression implemented without delay. If the demands were not met by next month, the committee would launch a series of agitations.
