The inauguraton of the doubling work of the Pullampet-Gooty section through satellite uplink from the PM's residence at New Delhi can be seen live on plasma screens at Vontimitta railway station, according to a statement released by the South Central Railway. The General Manager of SCR, S.M. Singla, Chief Administrative Officer, Amar Singh, and Chief Signal and Telecommunications Engineer, P.S. Venkataraman, would monitor the commencement of work at Vontimitta railway station on Thursday. The project was taken up to strengthen the Chennai-Mumbai railway line, which formed part of the Golden Quadrilateral lines linking four metropolitan cities, the statement added.
